The SIL 3 – certified communication to a S-PLC can increase the productivity and at the same time the safety of an industrial plant.
In FreelanceSafe data transfers, either binary signals or digital numerical values are transferred from an ABB Freelance DCS system to a safety PLC.
The binary signals or digital numerical values are generated and transmitted by operation in a Freelance Operations faceplate or automatically by an AS step chain.
The FreelanceSafe system, certified by TÜV Rheinland, can be used for SIL 3 communication from an ABB Freelance DCS system to ABB AC500-S, HIMA HIQuad, HIMatrix and HIMax, as well as Siemens SIMATIC S7 – 300F systems.
Possible communication media are PROFIBUS DP, MODBUS RTU and MODBUS TCP/IP.
In principle, the FreelanceSafe system can be certified for all SIL 3 safety PLCs and is independent of the communication medium.
